Why Curate 7 Hand-Crafted Lights with Fine Brass Chains?
Green Velvet curated hand-crafted lighting fixtures with fine, brass chains - but why? To represent our client's industrial roots, of course!
Weaving Into the Design
Working closely with our friends at Arteriors, we outfitted “An Investment You Can Experience”, a whisky vault on Central Park South, with 6 repeating wall sconces and a central chandelier. Each piece is hand-made and draped differently, but has the same cascading antique brass and worn-nickel chains.
During the design process, Braeburn Whisky turned to Green Velvet to weave its genesis into the design. As a whisky cask investment company with warehouses in Scotland, our goal was to lend a gentle nod toward their industrial core. While you’re tasting Braeburn’s whisky in NYC, there are hundreds of casks aging finely in Scotland.
Subtle Innuendos
When approaching lighting for the space, a natural next step could be a very literal one - use whisky barrels on the ceiling to create industrial-looking pendants, right? Well, maybe not… (Sorry mom!) Green Velvet is all about subtle innuendos. Most elements in our designs have hidden meanings, which work together to create a genuine, cohesive story.
The fine, brass chain lighting is a visual reminder that Braeburn Whisky is dual-sided - they’re elegant and rugged; as is the hand-crafted lighting Green Velvet curated for their space.
