Vendor Highlight: KinKa NYC. “No Plants, No Life”

Surrounded by plants - that’s how we prefer to be, and it just so happens to be KinKa’s specialty.

An Investment You Can Experience” by Green Velvet

Experienced Horticulturists

KinKa is a team of experienced horticulturists with a beautiful, botanical shop located in the East Village. We worked closely with co-founder EunYoung to curate a diverse collection of plants for "An Investment You Can Experience”, a whisky vault on Central Park South. KinKa’s motto, “No Plants, No Life”, is exactly how we feel, too.

Botanical Design Inspiration

Green Velvet’s inspiration for botanical design within the space was an 80’s hotel or shopping mall - think Valley View Mall circa ‘85. Simple, layered planters with all kinds of leafy greens. Different heights and wingspans, all stacked around the space. We didn’t want any colorful florals - just simple, green plants. And a lot of them.

KinKa brought our vision to life. After sharing inspirational imagery and giving them a tour of the space to determine which kinds of plants would work best with the level of natural light we were working with (hint, it was not a lot), they curated a stunning capsule collection with plants of all species and sizes.

It’s All In The Process

KinKa handled everything, from purchasing the plants and planters to align with our construction timeline to executing its installation. By the end, all of the plants were beautifully potted and placed according to our floor plans, and they then shared with us a care guide consisting of the plants’ species and care instructions (like how often to water them, and how).

KinKa was able to bring their years of knowledge in horticulture to create an urban oasis inside our design. They’re your one-stop-shop for all things plants; whether you’re looking to impulse buy a small house plant or attend a workshop intertwining seasonal ingredients and culinary culture, don’t forget to stop into their brand new storefront in the East Village, or check out their website at https://www.kinka.nyc/
